I’m excited to announce that I’ve been invited to join Wnet, or the Women’s Network in Electronic Transactions!
Throughout my career, I’ve had the honor to be a member of many different professional organizations. I’ve participated in professional and trade groups, as well as more focused, interest-based organizations. Few of these are as intimately important to me as Wnet, though.
I’m a passionate advocate for women in payments and fintech. As such, I’m truly thrilled to be among some of the industry’s foremost experts and thought leaders as a member of this organization!
What is Wnet?
Wnet was founded in 2005 with the goal of helping women in the payments industry achieve greater personal success, influence, and professional parity. Over the last 15 years, the organization has fostered a reputation as one of the premier professional groups for women in payments.
Wnet’s membership includes women in senior positions, including executives, presidents, and directors in the industry, plus emerging and developing leaders of tomorrow. This is one of the organization’s greatest assets: it brings to together professionals of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Wnet allows thousands of women around the world of varying experience levels to enrich themselves through education and mentorship. They offer world-class national and regional programming, plus networking opportunities and facilitated mentorship programs.
Although in-person events are not currently an option, Wnet typically hosts nearly two dozen events around the globe annually. They also arrange local social and educational events, as well as quarterly webinars. As a member of Wnet, I can’t wait to take an active role in participating in these!
Why Wnet Matters
I think it’s important to have organizations like Wnet that allow female professionals to network and connect with one another.
I have my own experience to reflect on in this case; I’ve been active in payments and finance technology for nearly two decades. I can’t imagine how great an asset an organization like the Women’s Network in Electronic Transactions would have been when I first broke into this industry!
We’ve made a lot of progress in recent years. However, women still represent a small portion of professionals in the payments space. Organizations like Wnet can play a huge role in helping promote female professionals in payments and finance and help us work toward finally achieving gender parity.
